UTU Research Faculty of Medicine meets Science belongs to everyone -project!
Involving members of the public in research is an emerging practice increasingly required by research funders and scientific journals. Public involvement means conducting research with or by members of the public rather than to, about, or for them. This approach can be referred to as e.g. co-creation, expert-by-experience activities, or citizen science.
Launched in autumn 2024, the Science belongs to everyone! project was initiated by the Department of Nursing Science and is funded by university donations until the end of 2026. The project aims to establish a university-wide citizen research panel which will enable researchers to learn citizens´ values, views and needs, adding value to the research process.
Before the detailed form and functionality of the panel is finalized and the recruitment of citizens begins, the project team is conducting a faculty tour to gather discipline-specific ideas and requirements for the citizen research panel. The insights gathered during the faculty tour will guide the panel’s design, ensuring it becomes a practical and effective tool for researchers and citizens alike.
Welcome to discuss and share ideas from the perspective of medical and health research!
