in Säätöpankki lecture hall, UTU main building

Dear colleagues at University of Turku, Varha wellbeing services county, and Auria biobank. We are all affiliated to the FinnGen research project via our home organizations. We have our ongoing studies, data, and funding, which has its value.  However, FinnGen is a world class data bank – full of registry, laboratory, and genomic data – that is in our use. FinnGen opens up new research opportunities, insights, and results that wouldn’t be done anywhere else. Thus, we are pleased to invite you to the upcoming FinnGen Days- event on 23th and 25th November.

This two-day event at Säästöpankki -hall (main building) will introduce FinnGen’s research resources, demonstrate practical analytical tools, and explore how Finnish biobank and registry data can support new research projects and publications:

Monday, 23 November

  • Time: 10.00 – 15.00 (lunch break: 12.00 – 13.00)
  • Introduction to FinnGen and its research resources
  • Talks about cardiovascular research and neuroscience research in FinnGen
  • Performing GWAS: the first entry point for analyses in genetic research
  • FinnGen for dummies: hands-on tutorials

Wednesday, 25 November

  • Time: 10.00 – 15.00 (lunch break: 12.00 – 13.00)
  • Practical lessons on developing FinnGen projects for publication and proxy endpoints
  • Talks about building research cohorts using health registry data (OMOP/OHDSI)
  • Studying genetic relationship between two diseases/traits: genetic correlation, genetic causality, and genetic risk
  • Hands-on tutorial and expert consultation
