Welcome to a pitching workshop where we delve into the secrets of effective face to face communications!

With pitching you aim to influence people in a short period of time. Pitching is most notably known from the startup scene, but pitching skills are something you can incorporate to your scientific work as well. Pitching for collaboration in a conference? Sure can! Pitching your research idea in a group meeting? Works like a charm!

The workshop is in two sessions. In the first part we go through what is pitching and how a good pitch is structured. We do this with the help of a few example pitches from the science field. We finish off the first session with some tips from the workshop facilitators and a Q&A section.

With the lessons from the first session the participants will prepare their own pitch for the second session. During the second session you get to rehearse and hone your pitching skills in small groups. You will receive feedback that you can use to improve your pitch upon. After the workshop you can film your pitch and send it to workshop facilitators who will give you detailed feedback on your pitch.

Your workshop facilitators are seasoned employees of Helsinki Think Company:

Workshop is run by Tuomas Kulmala, the Head of Partnerships for Helsinki Think Company. Tuomas has facilitated several pitching workshops and has experience in helping teams and startups create an impressive pitch. Through his work he is regularly pitching Helsinki Think Company content to potential customers.

Iiro Uotila is a Project Manager with a lot of pitching experience from organising several accelerators and hackathons and sparring teams with their pitching. As a bioscientist himself he knows what to do and what to not do when pitching scientific content.
