CompLifeSci Research Program of BioCity Turku call for Autumn 2020 grants.

A. Grants for PhD student and postdoctoral researchers to attend conferences, workshops, courses including online events

The PhD students and postdoctoral researcher who belong to the CompLifeSci Research Program of BioCity Turku are eligible to apply for the grant. The maximum amount of the grant is 500 euros. Please, note that the funding needs to be used and invoiced by the end of 2020!

Deadlines: 15.11.2020, 22.11.2020 and 29.11.2020.

B. Networking grant for joint activities within the CompLifeSci program and with other Biocity Turku Research Program member(s)

All members of the CompLifeSci Research Program of BioCity Turku are eligible to apply for The networking grant for joint research projects, activities, publications and grant applications between the programme members with with other Biocity Turku Research Program member(s).

Deadlines: 15.11.2020, 22.11.2020 and 29.11.2020.

The maximum amount of the grant is 1500 euros. Applicants will be informed of decisions within one week. Please note that all costs need to be invoiced before 1.12.2020 and paid in 2020!  The deadline for the grant report is 1.12.2020. Please, study also the reporting instructions below.

Instructions for the application:

A free format application should be submitted as a one page pdf. file and contain the following information:

    • Name of the applicant and contact details (preferably email address)
    • Participating groups
    • Title
    • Action plan (description how the networking benefits the project, workplan and schedule)
    • Budget (description of the costs and motivation linked to Action plan)

C. Networking grant for joint Scientific Research activities with other Biocity Turku Research Program member(s)

These scientific grants can be awarded only in advance, before the actual research begins. Please remember to prepare your application well in advance (meaning at least one month in advance) taking into account the time needed for the decision process and also the university’s grant payment schedules.

The amount of the grant can be at maximum 1500 eur and it needs to be used during 2020 – 2021. The grant cannot be awarded for those who are employed by the university and it is not intended to cover for example daily allowance. In some cases, the grant awarded covers only part of the actual costs and the researcher is obliged to independently find the rest of the funding elsewhere.

The purpose of this networking grant is to promote collaboration and networking between Biocity Turku research programmes. The grant can support scientific research in joint research projects conducted between CompLifeSci programme members and members of other Biocity Turku research programmes.

Each applicant needs to have a suitable education and all the necessary knowledge and skills required for conducting the research.

* your CV
* a description about the research topic (max 10 sentences)
* the sum you are applying
* a justification why this research should be supported (max 10 sentences)

Deadlines: 15.11.2020, 22.11.2020 and 29.11.2020.

Applicants will be informed of decisions within one week. No report is required. Please, apply at least four weeks in advance, before your research period will begin. Please be aware that a delayed application is very difficult to handle in the administration.
