Olson\, PhD\, University of Alb erta\, Edmonton\, Canada\nPrenatal maternal stress and adverse pregnanc y outcome\n\nChair: Noora Kartiosuo\n\n \;\n\nDavid M. Olson\, Ph.D.\, D .Sc.\, FRCOG\, FCAHS\, is a University of Alberta Distinguished Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology with adjunct appointments in Pediatrics and P hysiology. As a perinatal physiologist in a clinical department\, his work focuses on improving women’s pregnancy and newborn health. His studies and patents on products to predict and treat preterm birth and fetal/newbo rn inflammation and work on pregnant women’s vulnerability to environmen tal mental health stressors are internationally renowned. He served the un iversity as the Director of the Perinatal Research Centre\, chair/member o f committees\, course coordinator\, mentor of trainees and colleagues\, an d collaborator. Beyond\, he was elected an officer in three scientific soc ieties\, founded the Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting\, the In ternational Inflammatory Pathways to Preterm Birth Team\, the Optimal Preg nancy Environment Risk Assessment (OPERA) program\, and PolicyWise. He cur rently chairs the Worldwide Universities Network Maternal-Child research e mphasis.
