Brooks is Distinguished Professor of Integrative Biology\, at the Uni versity of California\, Berkeley. He has 50+ years of experience in metabo lic research\, spanning from whole body level in humans to cellular scale. He is a pioneer of particularly lactate research and his studies have bee n cited >\;30 000 times. His work has appeared in PNAS and various other prestigious journals. He has summarized his lactate work and that of othe rs in Cell Metabolism (The Science and Translation of Lactate Shuttle Theo ry – Cell Metab. 2018 Apr 3\;27(4):757-785.) and more recent ideas and r esults can be read in their Nature Metabolism study in regards to postpran dial lactate shuttle (Nat Metab. 2024 Apr\;6(4):670-677.).
