 Taija Mäkinen obtained her PhD from the University of Helsinki and comple
 ted postdoctoral training at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in M
 artinsried\, Germany. She previously served as a group leader at the Cance
 r Research UK London Research Institute (now the Francis Crick Institute) 
 and later as Professor at Uppsala University. In 2024\, she returned to Fi
 nland and currently serves as Director of the Wihuri Research Institute an
 d Professor at the Faculty of Medicine\, University of Helsinki. Her resea
 rch focuses on the mechanisms regulating the lymphatic vascular system and
