SUMMARY:Frontiers of Science: Prof. Shelley Minteer
DESCRIPTION:May 16th at 12:00\nOn-site event\nPresidentti auditorium\, BioC
 ity\nSpring 2024 program\n\nProf. Shelley Minteer\, University of Utah\, U
 SA\nEnzymes as electrocatalysts\nHost: Yagut Allahverdiyeva (allahve@utu.f
i)\n\nCoffee and sandwich at 11:45\, first come first served!\n\n&nbsp\;\n
\nSix PhD researchers and early-career postdocs are welcome to have a lunc
h in restaurant Mauno and discuss with Prof. Minteer after the seminar. Th
is is a great possibility to learn hosting skills in friendly environment
and create connections for future. Everyone is welcome to join\, BioCity T
urku will offer the lunch.\n\nIf you got interested\, please send an email
to biocityturku@bioscience.fi\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe Minteer Group focuses on
improving the abiotic-biotic interface between biocatalysts and electrode
surfaces for enhanced bioelectrocatalysis. These biocatalysts include micr
obial cells\, organelles (mitochondria and thylakoid membranes)\, redox pr
oteins\, and oxidoreductase enzymes. We design electrode structures for en
hanced flux at electrode surfaces for biosensor and biofuel cell applicati
ons. The group utilizes a variety of electroanalytical techniques (linear
 polarization\, cyclic voltammetry\, differential pulse voltammetry\, diffe
rential pulse amperometry)\, as well as a variety of biological and spectr
oscopic techniques to accomplish these goals. The group also has an active
program in electrocatalysis for synthetic organic electrochemistry.\n\n&n
