PTMs of proteins are thought to contribute to the obser ved complexity of cellular processes in animal and man. PTMs may help to e xplain the differences between e.g. worm and man\, considering that the nu mber and the nucleotide sequences of genes is rather comparable among anim al species. Hottiger lab studies the patterns of ADP-ribosylation using cu tting-edge systems biology approaches such as ADP-ribosyl-specific high-re solution and quantitative mass spectrometry that are developed in house or in collaboration with various colleagues worldwide.
