 i)\n\nMarco Foiani is Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of 
 Milan and\, since 2009\, Scientific Director of IFOM\, an international ca
 ncer center that hosts 20 groups and 300 scientists. Prof. Foiani has stu
 died different cellular processes (translational\, chromosome replication\
 , DNA recombination\, DNA repair\, DNA topology\, transcription\, autophag
 y and nuclear envelope dynamics) and regulatory pathways (translational co
 ntrol\, cell cycle\, checkpoint\, sumo and ubiquitin pathways\, protein ac
 etylation\, gene gating) using a variety of approaches (biochemical\, gene
 tic\, imaging\, genomic\, molecular biology). His major contributions are 
 within the fields of chromosome dynamics and genome integrity. His work ha
 s contributed to elucidate the ATR and ATM-dependent checkpoint processes 
 controlling the interfaces between DNA replication\, recombination\, trans
 cription and DNA topology and preventing abnormal chromosome transitions.\
