DESCRIPTION:Dr. Laurent Guyon\, CEA-Grenoble\, Biosciences and Biotechnolog
 y Institute of Grenoble\, France\n\nLaurent Guyon obtained his bachelor's 
 degree in mathematics and master's degree in physics. He defended a PhD in
  non-linear optics focusing on natural biological fluorescent molecules. H
 e had research experiences in Europe and North America in various domains\
 , from non-linear optics\, statistical physics\, and simulation. This vari
 ous experience encouraged his involvement in multidisciplinary projects. T
 en years ago he joined a biological institute as an engineer both in data 
 analysis and microscopy. Fascinated by the opportunity to answer biologica
 l questions through the availability of public experimental datasets\, he 
 turned to research in bioinformatics a few years ago. His main interest de
 als with gene selection and interpretation from large scale datasets with 
 particular interests in cancer and microRNAs. He has also a clear interest
  in high content screening datasets and network based approaches. His past
  as a physicist has profoundly affected the way he analyses data\, with hi
 gh concerns in the way and principle the data have been acquired.\n\nOrgan
