SUMMARY:BioCity Guest seminar: Neuropilin-1 is a novel target for snake ven
oms with distinct functions on different types of vasculature
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Johannes Eble\, University of Münster\, Germany\nNeuropi
lin-1 is a novel target for snake venoms with distinct functions on differ
ent types of vasculature.\n\nHost: Jyrki Heino (jyrki.heino@utu.fi)\n\nCof
fee/tea served at 14:00\n\nDr. Johannes Eble is Professor of Biochemistry
and the Head of the Institute of Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemi
stry at the University of Münster\, Germany. His research is focused on c
ollagen- and laminin-binding integrins\, especially in the vasculature sys
tem. The integrin-mediated interaction of cells with extracellular matrix
is of great importance for vasculature development and is often altered in
pathological conditions such as inflammation and tumor formation. Profess
or Eble's laboratory also studies how naturally occurring integrin inhibit
ors could be translated into medical practices. Professor Eble has publish
 ed nearly 150 research articles.\n\nSelected recent publications\nOliveira
